Step-by-step tutorial
1. Creating your automated content queue
While there are many ways to automate with our API, we wanted to keep things simple. That's why we chose Google Sheets as our starting point.
Create a spreadsheet with a column named "Mockup ID" where you'll insert IDs of mockups you want to share on Pinterest. The workflow uses Google Sheets > Watch New Rows module to monitor and process new entries automatically.
💡 Tip: To get mockup IDs, use our List Mockups endpoint. This gives you a complete list of available mockups and their IDs. Store these IDs in your spreadsheet—they're what we'll use to render mockups in the next step.
The workflow monitors your sheet for new entries and processes them one at a time. This approach helps maintain a steady flow of content while preventing duplicates or overwhelming your Pinterest feed.
While we use Google Sheets for this social media automation, you can modify the workflow's trigger to match your content management setup. Whether you're using a CMS, DAM system, or another content platform, Make supports various integration points.
2. Automating mockup generation
Now comes the fun part—turning your content into a polished presentation. We use the Mockuuups API module in Make to handle the rendering process.
First, create an API key in your Developer Dashboard and add it to the Make module configuration.
Then, we configure the rendering with these key parameters:
- mockup: Using mockup ID
- type: "screenshot" (let's make a screenshot of the Mockuuups website)
- destination: "cdn" (for immediate access to the rendered image)
- format: "image/webp" (best compression for web use)
- size: 1000 pixels (optimal for Pinterest)
💡 Tip: The rendered mockup is automatically stored on our CDN, giving you a ready-to-use URL for the next steps in the workflow.
3. Creating engaging Pin content
Once your mockup is automatically generated, our workflow uses AI to optimize your Pinterest content. This automation creates unique, Pinterest-optimized titles and descriptions for each pin, ensuring your content stands out.
While we use ChatGPT in this workflow, you're free to:
